VECOVA

Vecova is more than just Calgary’s only warm, salt water pool, we are a leading edge, registered and accredited charitable organization that has been meeting the lifelong and changing needs of children, adults and seniors with disabilities and the community since 1969 through our programs and services, social research and innovation and enterprises.

Here at Vecova, it is our mission to ensure that everyone who uses our facility and participates in our programs, feels that they truly belong!   For many families who come to Vecova, the feeling of belonging starts once they join one of our programs like the Adapted Recreation program.  These classes, include programs for children, youth and adults, are for people who have barriers to sports and other fitness activities.  It offers participants a place to gain skills and confidence in a safe, open and inclusive environment.

Below is a quote from a mother who had these words to say as she watched her son participate in our Adapted Recreation Program.

“Every other Recreation Centre in Calgary accommodates us and tolerates us because that’s what’s required of them; that is the law.  But Vecova welcomes us.  Embraces us.  Wants us.  We feel like we belong here and are part of a community – and that is absolutely priceless.”
