School Supplies for Kids (SSFK)
Since its inception, Na’amat Canada Calgary’s local School Supplies for Kids program has provided backpacks filled with school supplies to more than 24,000 children from diverse demographics who have taken refuge in Calgary and southern Alberta’s domestic violence and homeless shelters.
These young victims have experienced great trauma and uncertainty due to domestic violence and homelessness; oftentimes arriving at shelters with little more than the clothes on their backs. Adding to their obvious distress, is the anxiety of enrolling in a new school without so much as a simple pencil case or backpack.
Their need is great! Your support can make these children’s transition a little easier and enable them to resume their education with dignity and hope, during a dark and difficult time.
Mission
Na’amat Canada Calgary’s School Supplies for Kids program helps rebuild the self-esteem of school aged children being cared for in Calgary and southern Alberta’s domestic violence and homeless shelters. Our program provides each child with a new backpack and grade appropriate school
supplies, so they have the tools they need to pursue their education with pride and dignity.
