At the Alberta Cancer Foundation, it is our purpose to create more moments for Albertans facing cancer by inspiring our community to give to innovation in detection, treatment and care. As the fundraising partner for the 17 Alberta Health Services cancer centres, as well as the new Calgary Cancer Centre (alongside the University of Calgary), our donors make a difference in the lives of patients in every community, big or small. So, no matter where you or a loved one hears the words, “you have cancer” you can find relief knowing you will receive the very best care, close to home. That’s a big deal. It means you and your loved ones can focus on what matters most: healing
That’s what our Patient Financial Assistance Program is all about – providing financial support to cancer patients across the province so they can focus on their treatment versus trying to make ends meet. Last year alone, the program was accessed 4,456 times by Albertans in need and this year already the demand has nearly doubled. So, while cancer doesn’t care about the financial burden it causes, we do. And, thanks to the Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink matching program, patients and their families are able access much needed financial support during their treatment, so they can focus on what matters most – healing.
