Red-hot putter earns University golf coach his first PGA TOUR Champions start
CALGARY—Former university golf coach, Hank Kim, punched his ticket to his first career PGA TOUR Champions start following an impressive round of 65 to win the final qualifier at Lynx Ridge Golf Club in Calgary.
“I don’t know what to expect,” said Kim. “I’ve coached golf for the past nine years at Clayton State University, but when I turned 50 in October, we made the plan to chase this a little bit. This is my first one. It still hasn’t hit me yet.”
A hot putter helped the Georgia rattle off a seven-birdie round on Tuesday.
“I putted really well today. That’s the difference,” he said, who was the low qualifier by three strokes. “I hit unbelievable putts all day and I haven’t done that all year, so, it’s good to finally see them drop for once.”
